Business Class Immigration

Canada encourages the admission of Business Immigrants whose business experience and skills will be an asset and will contribute to Canadian economy and create job opportunities for Canadians and permanent residents. There are three business categories: entrepreneurs, investors, and self-employed.

Entrepreneur

Entrepreneur applicants must:

  • Have experience and managed and controlled a percentage of equity of a qualifying business for at least two years in the period beginning five years before applying.

  • Have a legally obtained net worth of at least $300,000 (Canadian). Entrepreneur will also have the ability to create a qualifying business within any year in the three years following arrival in Canada. This business must meet the criteria specified in the Regulations, related to sales, net income, assets and jobs.

Entrepreneurs and their family members are granted permanent residence under the conditions that Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) monitors. They are periodically required to report to an immigration officer in Canada with regards to their progress in establishing a business that meets the requirements.

Investors

Investor applicants must:

  • Have acquired at least three (3) years of experience

    • operating a business

    • as a senior manager in the agricultural, commercial or industrial fields

    • in management for a government or international agency.

  • Have a legally obtained net worth of at least $800.000 (Canadian); and

  • Invest $400,000 (Canadian) before receiving a visa. The full amount of the investment (without interest) is repaid to the investor after five years. The return of the investments is fully guaranteed by participating provinces and territories under the immigrant investor program.

The Immigrant Investor Program

The Immigrant Investor Program was created in 1986 by the Canadian government to attract successful business immigrants to Canada. First, you must meet the Immigration Selection Criteria, and later invest $400,000 (Canadian) for 5 years under one of the two investment programs currently available, the Federal Program or the Quebec Program. Immigration Selection Criteria in both programs are government guaranteed, assuring you that your investment will be repaid in full.

Although many potential investors are able to meet the net worth requirements, they may find it difficult to raise the amount of cash $400,000 (Canadian) in a very short period of time. Others may have very profitable businesses and would prefer not to liquidate part of these assets. So, to better service a candidate's particular needs, BC HAPPY HOMES IMMIGRATION SERVICES can arrange for you to obtain a loan of $280,000 CDN from a participating Canadian Bank or Financial Institution in Canada. You as the investor, will only be required to pay $120,000 (Canadian) as the initial payment which will be used to pay for the interest on the bank loan of $280,000 (Canadian) and other financing charges. No balance is repaid to the investor at the end of five years.

Self-Employed

Self-Employed Applicants must:

  • Show that they have the relevant experience, intentions and ability to become economically established in Canada by creating their own employment and contributing significantly to Canada in one of the following areas:

    • Canada's cultural or artistic life, either through performance at a world class level or self- employment in the discipline, as in the case of dancers or experienced choreographer.

    • Canada's ability to compete in athletics, either through performance at the world-class level or self-employment in the discipline, as in the case of figure skaters or coaches.

  • Show that they can contribute significantly to the Canadian economy by purchasing and management of a farm as farmers.
